Carl Laemmle, a German Jewish immigrant to the US, founded universal Studios. It has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the silent movies days when visitors to the studio tour were encouraged to buy fresh produce; the place in the San Fernando Valley, California was still partly a working farm at that time!

When MCA took over the company in the early 1960s they soon expanded the range of attractions for visitors. Today it is a full-blown theme park with fascinating attractions and exhilarating rides. You can still see how your favorite movies were made, as well as seeing actual production of films currently being made.

Would you like to get behind the scenes of a real live movie set? See actors performing and directors directing? You can at Universal Studios. Dining? Entertainment? Shopping? You can have all that on CityWalk. Take the Studio Tour with a virtual Whoopee Goldberg. Take The Mummy roller coaster ride and be both thrilled and terrified at the special effects and the heart-stopping moments lurking around every pitch-black corner. Or maybe you'd prefer a quiet amusing stroll through an interactive, walk-through museum featuring Lucy--TV's First Lady of Comedy? You can at Universal Studios.

Your kids might want to meet one of their favorite characters from a movie, or a TV show. How about Shrek, or Sponge Bob, or maybe Spiderman? They're all there, and you can meet them--in person. get your photo taken standing between Shrek and Fiona, or standing beside Donkey. Maybe you'd just prefer a picture of you and The Hulk. It's all possible at Universal Studios.

Who can forget the movie Jurassic Park. Well, throw out whatever memories you might already have. At Universal Studios you will have brand new memories implanted right over the old ones. Imagine meeting a 50-foot T-Rex face to face? Imagine hearing it roar so close that the earth trembles? You don't have to imagine, for all that really happens at Universal Studios when you go on Jurassic Park--The Ride. You'll be plunging down a roaring waterfall a full 84 feet, straight down. Expect thrills, spills and screams. And don't be surprised if you find the screams coming from you!

Back to the Future was a movie just begging to be made into one of the most exciting rides of all time. It happened too, at Universal Studios. Jump aboard Doc Brown's flying DeLorean and ride your way into tomorrow. Or is it yesterday changed by what happened to tomorrow? Who cares! Back to the Future--The Ride gets history back on track in record time, and you can ride along while it happens.

At Universal Studios it's not all about machinery and special effects. If you want to get back to something more natural, then check out Universal's Animal Actors. Here you can enjoy a variety of real live animals, as dogs, monkeys, birds, chimpanzees and more perform their tricks. Their talent will amaze you and their antics will have you in stitches. You might even get to perform alongside some of them...

Universal Studios is a place for all the family. Spend a full day, or just and afternoon. The choice is yours.
