Day One - Trip to Disneyland

Character Breakfast
If you're traveling with youngsters, set up a Character Breakfast at one of the Disney hotels. You get to meet Mickey, Goofy, Donald and all those other chipper characters. Photos and autographs are given out too. How do you know whose where? You can find Minnie and the gang at the Paradise Pier Hotel. Goofy chills at the Disneyland Hotel. The chipmunks often frequent the Grand Californian.

Mickey's Toontown
If you can get to the park early - great. With a lot of ground to cover, it's usually best to devise a general plan of adventure to avoid aimless wandering and missing out on choice spots. The real youngsters will enjoy Mickey's Toontown. You get to wander through Mickey's House and see what that silly old mouse is up to.

Sleeping Beauty's Castle
Next up is Fantasyland. Girls can stroll through Sleeping Beauty's Castle and pretend they're princesses. For the boys, it's always a blast to cross the moat with imaginary sword in hand fighting the illusionary dragons at the gates.

It's a Small World
Then there's the ever-popular "It's a Small World" ride. Explore the unique and diverse cultures of the world as the classic tune, that most everyone knows, plays around you. Be prepared that tune tends to linger, so you'll probably be humming it for the rest of the trip.

Pirates of the Caribbean
Discover some of the coolest rides in the park at New Orleans Square.  Head to the Pirates of the Caribbean, and become the swashbuckler you've always aspired to be. Cruise through the Haunted Mansion in a Doom Buggy and find yourself spooked beyond belief.  Scurry over to Critter County and ride one of the most popular adventures of all time - Splash Mountain.

Adventureland
If you need to ease back a bit, then drift along on the Mark Twain Riverboat. Or, if it's crazy hot, go on Adventureland's Jungle Cruise. The youngsters always find splendor in Snow White's Scary Adventure or Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. If you'd rather spin into oblivion, hit up the Mad Party Tea cups in the whimsical Alice in Wonderland.

Souvenirs
If you're itching to pick up some nifty Disney souvenirs, then meander down Main Street and get those Goofy socks with bells on them or crazy Mickey ears - available in a variety of different styles - including leopard print.

Dinnertime
When you start feeling ravenous, Downtown Disney has a vast selection of restaurants. If you'd rather stay put, then head to the Blue Bayou. On the menu is Creole and Cajun inspired dishes. The Monte Cristo sandwich, stuffed with turkey, ham and cheese, is a mighty fine choice. And the view offers a unique glimpse of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Nightlife
If you're not ready to call it a night, then check out the Enchanted Tiki Room in Adventureland. Or, there's always the Main Street Parade with a great fireworks display too.
