Anaheim Activities & Attractions
BeachesSouthern California's greatest allure is the comfortable climate and vibrant sunshine. One of the best ways to enjoy this phenomenal weather is by spending a day on the beach. Depending on the type of scene you're looking for Orange County (OC) has a variety of options. Newport Beach, offers a glimpse of the glamorous OC with its extravagant houses, posh shops and high-styling autos. Long Beach, home to the world's largest mural, combines hot bikini curves with the corporate world, along with unique communities situated throughout the sand. San Clemente Beach offers stellar hiking and more solitude than its neighboring beaches. Huntington Beach is a great place to ride the waves and peruse all the basking beauties. (Random fun fact: In 2005 on Huntington Beach a group of 60 surfers hopped on a giant surfboard to catch a wave, setting a new unofficial world record for number of riders on a surfboard.)
Balboa Pavilion
Established in 1905, the Balboa Pavilion displays a bounty of shops, restaurants and a ferry for whale watch cruises to Balboa Island. For the kids, there's Fun Zone equipped with games, rides and the most spectacular Ferris wheel in all of Anaheim! Also, situated along Balboa Pier is the very first Ruby's - a vintage 1940's-style burger joint featuring snazzy red booths, deluxe shakes, a spectacular ocean view and ever-so-lovely waitresses dressed in red and white pinstripes.
Crystal Cove State Park
Nestled amidst Laguna and Corona del Mar you'll find this popular spot to hike, horseback and mountain bike. You can choose to head out early in the morning to partake in a tour, or venture out on your own. Miles of open shoreline offer the perfect opportunity to bask along the sands. As the tide recedes, mini aquatic pools form to reveal delicate ecosystems and a bounty of fascinating sea life. If you'd like to stay the evening, there's a campground for pitching up tents and stargazing deep into outer space.
Knott's Berry Farm
If you're searching for family fun outside of Disneyland, then this is your place. Established in the 1920's, this is America's first theme park and where the boysenberry originated. Back then Knott's Berry Farm had the Chicken Dinner Restaurant - along with acres of lush berries - that served delectable chicken dinners and baked pies. It wasn't until the 1940's that Old West attractions emerged, and the notion of a "theme park" took wing. These days the famous family restaurant seats 900 guests and doubles as a delightful family fun spot. Rides such as the Supreme Scream, GhostRider and the Xcelerator provide thrills and excitement to adults and children alike.
